Here at Stocksbridge High School, we take pride in our facilities which were rebuilt in 2012 and encourage our community to make full use of our amenities which are listed below. The site has ample car parking and is fully accessible for wheelchair users.

Sports Hall
A standalone building housing a sports hall measuring 18m width x 33m length, the sports hall has a sprung floor and can be used for a variety of indoor sports such as netball and cricket training. The hall has floor markings for badminton, 5 a-side and basketball (with 6 basketball nets for training).

Dance Studio
Housed alongside the sports hall, there is a dance studio measuring 13m width x 11m length. This space has a sprung floor, full dance mirrors along one side, ballet bar and black out curtaining. This is ideal for a drama or fitness class group. Changing facilities are available.

Football Pitch
The football pitch can be hired for any sport such as football, rugby training, hockey and athletics. This is available on Saturday mornings and summer evenings due to no flood lights.

Large All Weather Pitch
The large All-Weather pitch has a tarmac surface and has a running track. This space can be hired for activities such as 5 a-side and general fitness training. This is available on Saturday mornings and summer evenings due to no flood lights.

This smaller all-weather pitch has a tarmac surface and can be used for activities such as 5 a-side, netball and general fitness training. This is available on Saturday mornings and summer evenings due to no flood lights.

Drama Studio
The drama studio measuring 8m width x 10m length has full dance mirrors along one side and black out curtaining. This is available as a standalone area or with access to the main hall can be used to support larger performances. Additional rooms are available which can be used for costume changes.

Housed in the older part of the school, this facility measures 12m width x 22m length. This area can be used for a variety of indoor activities such as trampolining, gymnastics, small 5 a-side football, netball and basketball (there are 6 basketball nets). This area does not have private changing room facilities, however the changing rooms located near the sports hall can be accessed.

Main Hall
The school’s main hall measuring 16m width x 18m length provides an ideal venue for performances, conferences and presentations. It boasts a presentation screen, sound system and stage lighting. It can host an audience of 200 people in the retractable seating with additional seating available for 100. We are able to set the space out as cabaret style for conferences and presentations. Together with the café area and dining room area, this is a perfect space to host bigger events such as music and dance festivals.

The café area measures 10m width x 8m length and has 17 small tables seating 4 at each table. The kitchenette offers a servery to the café area, hot-water, sinks and electricity. This area is ideal for children’s parties.

This meeting room measures 2.5m width x 3.5m length and is ideal for a small meeting of up to 4 people.

This meeting room measures 5m width x 6m length and is ideal for a larger meeting of up to 10 people. This room has a projector screen and tea/coffee making facilities are available.

Our classrooms can accommodate up to 30 and typically measure 6m width x 8.5m length. Interactive white boards are available.

Steel Valley Beacon has used the school hall, drama studio and cafeteria for several large theatrical productions. The space on offer is flexible, clean and perfect for large groups. Car parking facilities mean our audiences can park near by and know their vehicles are safe and secure. Without doubt the key to hiring these spaces is the support and co-operation from staff particularly the caretakers. For a large festival or performance I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the school.
Thurgoland ladies netball enjoy weekly use of Stocksbridge High schools sportshall. The facilities are well lit with secure free parking. Always clean with good lighting the sportshall is the perfect venue for indoor netball. Modern shower and changing rooms are available for use which are clean, warm and welcoming. Everyone is polite and friendly.
